About the Breast Cancer ProgramThe Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center through the Department of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a leader of the Breast Cancer Program within the Cancer Center. The successful applicant will be charged with leading the development of this trans-departmental multidisciplinary Breast Cancer effort. The director of this program will have major opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and scholarship, working with a broad base of faculty focused on breast cancer research. The ideal applicant to this position will be an individual with an international reputation as a leading cancer researcher and clinician with significant leadership experience, interested in collaborative research, education, and program building. Resources will be available for recruitment of additional junior faculty in the Division. The successful candidate will hold the Breast Cancer Research Chair in Oncology. The Breast Cancer Program currently includes 31 program members from 10 departments of the School of Medicine and School of Public Health. The Program is responsible for coordinating and supporting the clinical and basic science breast cancer research activities of the Cancer Center. Investigators in the Program are involved in a very wide range of collaborative activities in cancer research, including a multiple disease specific SPORE grant, a DOD Center of Excellence, in addition to individual research grants and projects. The program members work within a close community of investigators studying basic and clinical research, epidemiology, pathology, radiology, surgery and environmental health. These faculty, many of whom have joint appointments within these Departments, comprise membership in this program.
