Molecular Imaging Center Use Guidelines

If you are planning imaging experiments at the Molecular Imaging Center you have to start with getting access to the BRB Animal Facility.

All users need to:

  1. Have an access to the BRB Animal Facility

Please apply for access to the BRB Animal Facility and the Imaging suite B-14 at the Research Animal Resources at Ross – room 459 (5-3273).You have to fill out the BRB Animal Facility form (that can be found under the “Forms” on this web-page) and to get it signed by Elena Artemova, Molecular Imaging Center Coordinator (ext. 2-2598, e-mail: elena@jhmi.edu)

  2. Have animals (mice or rats) housed in the BRB Animal Facility

NO animals (dead or alive) can be brought to the Imaging Center from outside of the BRB Animal Facility. To order animals to the BRB Facility please contact the office of the Research Animal Resources at 5-3273.

You can also contact Director of Laboratory Animal Management Lindsay Barnes at 2-1933, e-mail address: lbarne15@jhmi.edu regarding ordering and housing your animals at the BRB Animal Facility. Animals must be housed in rooms allowing transport to and from the animal imaging suite.

After imaging all animals have to be placed in the High Risk Area in suite B-16.

  3. Complete Equipment Training

The Molecular Imaging Center does not provide user assistance with Faxitron Imaging. Therefore all users have to attend a training session, that can be scheduled with the Center coordinator Elena Artemova at 2-2598, e-mail address: elena@jhmi.edu

The cost for the training session is $ 50.00.

  4. Schedule the use of the imaging equipment.

You will also have to schedule your imaging session with the Imaging Center coordinator. Please provide the Center with your budget number prior to use.Charge sheet forms can be found under the “Forms” on this web-page.

  5. Follow the Imaging Center Rules and Regulations

... in handling of the imagingequipment and the animals. The Imaging Center will not provide any experimental instruments or reagents (ear tags, forceps, anesthetic, syringes, etc.), users must bring all necessary supplies.

We also ask users to keep the imaging equipment and well as the working area clean.

Thank you for your cooperation.
